瓦楞原紙是生產瓦楞紙板的重要組成材料之一。瓦楞原紙要求纖維結合強度好，紙面平整，有較好的緊度和挺度，要求有一定的彈性，以保證制成的紙箱具有防震和耐壓能力。此外對水分指標要加以控制，水分過小，紙脆，瓦楞加工時會發生破裂；水分過大，紙軟，會給加工成型帶來困難。一般紙的含水量應控制在10％左右為宜。國產瓦楞原紙分為A、B、C、D四個等級。
